The Save our Sea Lion campaign was started by the Sausalito Foundation in early 2023 to repair and restore Al Sybrian’s iconic bronze sculpture perched on the shoreside rocks off of Bridgeway Blvd, downtown Sausalito. This collection of stories below follows the campaign and restoration process of the sculpture.
Our Iconic bronze sea lion was returned to its original home on July 3, 2024. The Save the Sea Lion Journey was a 16-month labor of love… from rescue, to restoration, then permitting, and ultimately its final offshore installation.
The Sausalito Foundation, sincerely thanks the City of Sausalito (Approval/Permitting), Robert Hayes (Architectural Servicing), Universal Sonar Mount (Design, Repair/Restoration), Marin Made (Storage), Milsap, Degnan & Associates (Installation), and the
